Health Facts: Pediatric Statistics on How long Common Cold Symptoms last
I took this Statistical picture on how long colds symptoms last when we went for a pediatric appointment last month. I thought this is an important information to all people and parents having kids out there. Having a common cold is frustrating. It makes us irritable and lethargic. Common cold is an acute infectious disease. The symptoms of having a common cold are: sore throat, nasal discharge, cough and fever.
According to this statistical picture, sore throat last for 9 days, nasal discharge lasts for 14 days and same with cough, and fever lasts for 9 days. So if you have those symptoms, a simple remedy will do like drinking orange juice or taking vitamin c syrups or tablets will do. Take time for bed rest and eat food that are rich in iron like chicken noodle soup. Take cross contamination precautions like washing you hands frequently and cover your nose when sneezing and mouth when coughing. Having common cold has advantage for your body too as it builds up antibodies to immunize you against people having the same disease after you had it.
Have a safe and healthy winter to you all!
