The Yellow Cabs In New York City And Sephora Building
While strolling around NYC, I paid attention to their Yellow Cabs. In other countries, they imitate their taxi cabs to be yellow because it’s a famous color of taxi cabs in NYC. In movies, I saw checkered design on NYC yellow cabs but lately, there aren’t checked design anymore. According to my readings, the checkered taxi cabs was an American Taxi company but it went bankrupt in 2009. So that explained why there aren’t checkered yellow cabs in NYC anymore as well as other states in America. The government in New York city mandated all taxi vehicles will be yellow and they are called the “Medallion Taxis”. They are the ones only permitted to respond to those passengers who whistle or hail for taxi while on the side of street.

All of a sudden, while strolling the sidewalk, I heard a loud whistle. It was this woman who called for a taxi and this yellow cab came right away. I didn’t see her wearing a whistle or anything but I guess if you are living in NYC, you should learn how to whistle for a taxi very loud.
I like the classic ornaments of this Sephora building. It was a perfect spot for them and costumers come in and out, probably buying cosmetics and perfumes in their outlet.

Of course – the iconic yellow cabs of NYC! Two years ago, I received a postcard from a friend visiting NYC in the shape of a yellow-taxi :D
Thank you for sharing the information about checkered cabs and how to call a taxi in nyc. Here in Japan we just raise a hand.
I didnt know that the American (chequered) cab company went out of business… ! Here, in Seoul, there are orange colored taxis and in black too. Some are reserved only for foreigners… and they are very cheap!
Whistling for a taxi is something I’ve always wanted to learn. LOL
I like those pictures. A nice yellow.
Our taxi’s in Sydney are white but years ago I remember we did have some that were yellow. I remember when we visited NY in 1989 being amazed at the very big yellow taxis.
Lots of bright yellow cabs in that first shot!
those are pretty yellow cabs Momi Mel :-) I seldom see cabs here in Buffalo :-) Returning from MYM
Beautiful shots! That is really a familiar shot in NY.

I ♥NY!!!!
I remember noticing how big the yellow taxis were in New York – when we visited in 1989. Our taxis here in Sydney are mostly white – but we did have some yellow ones years ago. Thanks for visiting:)
Hi, and thanks for stopping by and leaving such a nice comment.
I’ve never been to NYC, but always wanted to go. Thanks for the info
