My mom and I have been preparing for her move and she seems really excited. She decided to sell the big house last year and it’s been quite the struggle getting it all cleaned out and her stuff put in storage and everything squared away. It was just too big for her to take care of by herself and she spent so much time cleaning and having to go up and down stairs – it really wasn’t the right place for her anymore. So she’s moving into a condo on the ground floor closer to my house and she’s really nervous but optimistic about it. I have done all the heavy lifting including hiring the movers, looking into ElectricCompaniesTexas, talking to the neighbors, etc. and everything seems to be squared away for the move next weekend. Mom is most worried that her cat will have a hard time adjusting to not having a yard but it’s an indoor cat anyway so I don’t really see what the big deal is. There’s something to be said for having a pet but mom is just totally obsessed with this cat and I think it will be good with her to be out of her element a little bit. For some reason I think this move is going to reinvigorate her as her health’s been declining for a while. I’ve been working with the moving company to make sure everything is right where she wants it by the time I drop her off at her new place – and of course I’m planning on cooking her dinner in the new place the first night she’s there. Mom is the best parent anyone could have asked for and you know, at the end of the day I’d do anything I could to make sure she was happy and safe and comfortable until her dying day. I love my mom as much as anyone else does but my mom is really, really special!
